What happens when you combine yoga, swim, dance, and the bright and happy colors of summer? Then you get #YogaPoolParty by LiFE Yoga Center, Manila’s first indoor-outdooor movement party that combines live music and yoga in one immersive experience. Held in February, the Palace Pool Club in BGC was just the perfect venue for it.
Of the myriad arguments that can be made for traveling, perhaps one of the most compelling is the chance to immerse in the local cuisine and discover a culture’s unique flavors. I made one such happy discovery in Bangkok with this charming little place called Thirsty Owl. Thirsty Owl Bangkok
At the risk of seeming boring, let me preface my Malissa Kiss Day 3 post (read Day 1 here and Day 2 here) by saying how much I love staycations. I mean, don’t you? The idea of zipping through a packed itinerary and staying in a place only long enough to post a geolocated photo is as appealing to me as ube ice cream (sorry, ube fans). Last month, New York Fashion Week unveiled the style dictates for the coming Spring-Summer, with Maybelline as its official beauty partner. Bringing the latest from the New York runways to the Philippine streets, Maybelline is making NYFW happen for Filipinas, allowing us to create NYFW-inspired looks with its S/S 2016 makeup collection.
The recent speech of Gawad Kalinga’s Tony Meloto reveals so much about the racial inferiority complex and machismo culture that are still deeply entrenched in the Filipino psyche. It reveals how even someone pro-Philippines, pro-poor, and pro-women can succumb to such things. But more importantly, it reveals how we as a people see ourselves today.
