Having an Ilonggo dad and Kapampangan mom means growing up around topnotch food. More so if your parents are civic-minded, farm-loving, health-conscious folks who enjoy going to the palengke and preparing dishes bursting with color and flavor. The downside, of course, is when you have to live away from home and in a city where the commute alone eats up a good part of your day. Unless you have a full arsenal of kitchen supplies plus spare hours for groceries and meal prep, your choices for a tasty meal are down to either healthy but expensive, or cheap but oh so bad for you. LiFE Yoga, my happy place, has come to the rescue with their in-house café, Vibe Superfood.
It’s my third #yogapoolparty at LiFE! You’d think by now things would be more of the same, but far from it. Save for the venue—The Palace Pool Club because where else—LiFE Yoga introduces fun new activities each time. The February yoga pool party had Vinyasa and NIA. The May pool party had Paddleboard Yoga, Kundalini, and Poi Dancing. This September, it’s Rock N’ Flow and Acroyoga with some live art and drum music.
The sun and I seldom get along. For most of the time, I feel encumbered by its bright orange heat. There are days, however, when summer’s vapors rise high enough to form clouds that calm the sun’s harsh rays. Just then, it becomes the perfect time for something like a pool party: a time to let all worries float away.
After years of non-committal dilly-dallying, I found myself finally ready to bend over backwards for love. Love of self, that is. Much has been said about today’s fast-paced, frenetic way of life, and how much we need to be able to get away from it all and take care of ourselves once in a while. I have found my happy place, my haven for when things get too stressful. LiFE Yoga is a vibrant community of folks with a shared passion for mindfulness, art, music, and good food.
What happens when you combine yoga, swim, dance, and the bright and happy colors of summer? Then you get #YogaPoolParty by LiFE Yoga Center, Manila’s first indoor-outdooor movement party that combines live music and yoga in one immersive experience. Held in February, the Palace Pool Club in BGC was just the perfect venue for it.
